Biomech Motion Analysis System 7-21-99 2:39:00 am ============================== To setup or reinstall your BIOMECH system, first move to the directory which contains the installation files (INSTALL.BAT, BIOMECH.EXE). Then enter: INSTALL x: where, x, is replaced by the drive letter (usually C:) where your programs will reside. You will need about 4 megabytes of disk space. The self-extracting archive will create a subdirectory named x:\BIOMECH and another called x:\BIOMECH\GRAPHS. The GRAPHS subdirectory contains various files used by the GRAPH program. They are not necessary for processing your data. If you downloaded the archive-only file, BIOMECH.ZIP, you will need to use PKUNZIP to expanded the archive. In this case, execute the following command: PKUNZIP -d-n BIOMECH x:\BIOMECH Optionally, add the BIOMECH directory to your default path. E.g., PATH=x:\BIOMECH;%PATH% where, x, is replaced by the drive letter of the BIOMECH directory (as above). Add the following command to your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=C:\DOS\ANSI.SYS or DEVICEHIGH=C:\DOS\ANSI.SYS or in Windows95 DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\ANSI.SYS Add the following SET commands to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file: SET BIOMECH=x:\BIOMECH SET 9=PRN where, x, is replaced by the drive letter of the BIOMECH directory (as above). The following system requirements are necessary: DOS 4.00 or later Colour EGA or better The following system requirements are optional but desirable: 132-column video mode (see file VID_132.BAT in BIOMECH directory) ANSI.SYS loaded (see above) To run the programs follow these steps: 1) Copy your data files (i.e., trial.DG, trial.CFB) to a specific data directory. E.g., COPY trial.* x:\data\trial 2) Move to the data directory. E.g., CD x:\data\trial 3) Run the program directly. E.g., CINEDATA trial or run the batch file BIOMECH.BAT. E.g., BIOMECH trial then select a program from the menu. or in Windows, open Explorer (Windows95) or File Manager (Windows 3.x), and double-click the control file (.CFB) for your trial. Note, that you must first register various filetypes, as given below. For Windows 95, the files, IMAGER.REG, BIOMECH.REG and BIOPROC.REG, are provided to register various filetypes for use with Windows Explorer. Run REGEDIT.EXE to have the filetypes registered. You will then be able to load these files by double-clicking on their icons from Explorer. BIOMECH FOR WINDOWS INSTALLATION If you want to interface with the Biomech programs through a Windows application use BMWIN95. These programs require special drivers and libraries to function under windows. The following files must be in the Windows SYSTEM directory (i.e., c:\windows\system). For BPWIN95: COMDLG32.OCX and MSVBVM50.DLL These files are not included with the installation software. They may be obtained at various websites including the one listed below, in the subdirectory labelled VBASIC. DOCUMENTATION Some documentation is available in Acrobat .PDF file format. To read these files download the free Acrobat Reader from the website: http://www.adobe.com/acrobat Installation instructions are provided by Adobe. These files should be placed in the subdirectory called "\manuals".
